Two home runs from Sano pushed the Twins past the Rays to win the series.

Today Miguel Sano became the first player to hit a pop up to the rafters in Tropicana Field. Oh, also he hit two home runs. Not sure which one is more impressive.

Kyle Gibson wasn’t that great today, but didn’t let things get out of control. He went 5 innings, allowing 6 hits, 4 walks, 2 ER and struck out just 2.

With the Rays up 1-0 in the 3rd, Miguel Sano blasted a “sanodoubter” to left center for a 3 run home run. 3-1, Twins.

Nick Franklin hit a solo homer for the Rays in the bottom of the 3rd, bringing the score to 3-2.

A sacrifice fly by Max Kepler (2-4 on the day) scored the Twins 4th run, scoring Brian Dozier. This was off of Kevin Jepsen, funnily enough. A Dozier double in the 8th added another run.

Evan Longoria hit a homerun of his own in the 8th, but Sano matched it with one of his own in the 9th for the final score of 6-3.

Studs: Miguel Sano, various others.

Duds: No duds, Twins win!

After the game, the Twins sent Byron Buxton to AAA, and activated Trevor Plouffe from the disabled list.
