AAA: Rochester Red Wings off
No game for the Red Wings today.
[No box score]
AA: Jacksonville Suns 2, Chattanooga Lookouts 0
Despite a great start by SP David Hurlbut, the Lookouts did not win. Hurlbut gave up only one earned run on six hits and one walk over his 6.2 innings or work, but sloppy defense by 3B Niko Goodrum and a complete lack of offense did him in.
The Lookouts got six hits and two walks in the game, but failed to score a run. Five of the hits were singles, with the only extra-bases hit being a double by 1B Ryan Walker. None of the Lookouts got more than a hit in the game.
High A: St. Lucie Mets at Ft. Myers Miracle POSTPONED
It rained in Ft. Myers today. No game.
[No Box Score]
Low A: Cedar Rapids Kernels 8, Peoria Chiefs 4
The Kernels hit a butt-load of doubles as they jumped out to an 8-0 lead over the Chiefs, eventually winning 8-4. jumped out to RF Jaylin Davis and 2B Luis Arraez had two doubles each while 1B J.J. Fernandez and LF Christian Cavaness each had one.
SP Sam Gibbons started the game and gave up no earned runs in his 6 innings of work, although two unearned runs were allowed. Those runs came on a throwing error by Arraez.
Rookie: Danville Braves 3, Elizabethton Twins 1
This game was postponed from the day before, and shortened to 7 innings because it was delayed again by rain on Monday. They did eventually play, however, and it didn’t go so great for the baby Twins.
Although Twins SP Miguel De Jesus lasted 6 innings and gave up only one earned run, it’s rookie ball. Translation: Unearned runs. The Twins gave up two of them today, which turned out to be the difference makers. SS Brandon Lopez had a throwing error, CF Luis Martinez made a fielding error, and RP Hector Lujan made a fielding error of his own.
The Twins did have ten hits, but only one of them for extra bases. That was a triple by 1B Lewin Diaz.
