Low A: Clinton LumberKings 1, Cedar Rapids Kernels 0

What a total heartbreak loss for the Kernels. After 11 innings, the LumberKings defeated the Kernels 1-0 on an RBI single by SS Rayder Ascanio.

SP Sean Poppen started the game for the Kernels, and he did, in fact, get things Poppen. Sean surrendered only three hits over his 5 innings of work, before he passed the game off to RP Michael Cederoth. Cederoth pitched two scoreless innings until RP Tom Hackimer took over to pitcher another 2.1 scoreless innings—and then they got to RP Anthony McIver. It was not McIver’s lucky day, to say the least.

As for the Cedar Rapids offense—it sucked. They didn’t score a run! They only got four hits in the dang game. DH Travis Blankenhorn got a double. That was about it.

Still—bravo to the Cedar Rapids Kernels and their great season. It provides more hope for the future Twins.
