J.O. Berrios only gave up two earned runs in four innings. His ERA is now 8.88.
And thus ends the good news part of this game recap.
Bartolo Colon pitched seven shutout innings and the Mets bullpen cleaned up nice, limiting the Twins to three singles in 3-0 win. The loss ensures that the Twins will fall short of 70 wins; if they win out, they will finish with 69 victories. Nice.
The Mets stroked back-to-back solo dongs off Berrios in the third (Jose Reyes, Asdrubal Cabrera) to give them all the runs they needed.
Trying to think of anything else interesting from this game is difficult. Ummmmm, the bullpen only gave up one run in four innings of work? Brian Dozier extended his hitting streak to 20 games? I think I've given you more than enough here. Also: Bartolo Colon is 14-7, pudgy as the day is long, and is maybe my favorite player in baseball.
There. That's enough.
