Two teams with nothing to fight for in the twilight of the season. Let's do this!

The Missouri Monarchists were eliminated from Wild Card contention last night so at least we'll be spared from camera shots of some other team clinching a playoff berth while our hapless Twins forlornly watch the celebratory dogpile from the dugout bench. So we've got that going for us this year.

Danny Duffy (LHP, 12-3, 3.43 ERA) will be pitching for the Aristocrats tonight. Duffy threw 6.0 innings against the Twins earlier this month, striking out 10 while giving up two earned runs, including a Robbie Grossman HR. His last outing was against the Tigers, where he was shelled for seven hits, six runs and 4 walks over 3 2/3 innings.
Taking the mound for the Twins will be, Kyle Gibson (RHP, 6-11, 5.04 ERA). Gibby pitched five innings in his last game, giving up five hits, and two earned runs while walking four. In his last game versus KC, Kyle threw six innings surrendering eight hits and four earned runs while walking two and striking our four. Gibson has a 3.38 ERA over the Regals in his last ten starts against them.
No Dozier tonight.

This is my last gamethread of the season [pause for boisterous cheering to die down], unless we do post-season gamethreads but there wasn't much interest last year if I recall correctly. So enjoy these last few games, we're only an agonizingly long winter away from next season, when things will get better! Um... right? To those of you still hanging out with us on gamethreads this late into a season like this one, I salute you!
