Friday afternoon’s Twins update has nothing to do with Brian Dozier, who is still a Minnesota Twin. Rather, the news is about other Twins who are also still Minnesota Twins.
All the local beats are reporting that the Twins have agreed to terms and avoided arbitration with pitchers Kyle Gibson, Hector Santiago, and Brandon Kintzler. Per Mike Berardino, Gibson and Kintzler are both in the $2.9 million range, while Santiago will get $8 million for 2017. As noted by the Strib’s Phil Miller, this makes Santiago the fifth-highest paid Twin for the coming season. Like you, I have Hector Santiago Fever*, and am pleased by this development.
But I know what all of you are asking: What about Ryan Pressly? Well, I don’t know how to tell you this, so I’m just going to tell you this: The Twins and Pressly did not reach a pre-arbitration agreement. Berardino says the team and Pressly’s representation will exchange some figures.
UPDATE: Jerry Crasnick says the Twins and Pressly have reached an agreement just north of $1.1 million.
*Not a real thing.
