In attempt to sweeten pot, Twins offer Darvish Friends Season 5 on DVD

“For my money, it’s the strongest season of the show.”

With rumors swirling that free agent pitcher Yu Darvish may not sign for another month, the Minnesota Twins are reportedly exploring all avenues to woo a potential front-of-the-rotation starter.

That includes an American television comedy.

“We’ve reached out to Yu’s agent to let him know we have an unopened box set of the fifth season of Friends,” said Twins GM Thad Levine.

“On DVD,” he expanded.

While it is not known if Darvish is a fan of the long-running NBC sitcom, or if he has a device that plays DVDs, Levine says he’s unconcerned.

“For my money, it’s the strongest season of the show. There’s the Chandler-Monica pairing, there’s the consequences of Ross saying Rachel’s name at his wedding to Emily...oh man, the episode where Phoebe pretends to hit on Chandler is killer diller. The humor is universal.

“This is also the one with Ross’ sandwich. ‘My sandwich!’ Classic.”

Levine says one of the team’s locker room attendants found the DVD set in a bin at Menards.

“He said he was in the checkout line and looking through this big honkin’ container with a lot of Chuck Norris DVDs, things like that, when he saw Matt LeBlanc’s face out of the corner of his eye. That’s Joey, brother!”

Darvish’s representatives did not respond to a request to comment on this offer, or if they thought Michael Rapaport’s run as Gary, Phoebe’s cop boyfriend, was any good or not.
