Twins 5, Nationals 2: Jason Castro blasts two-run dinger

Apparently framing pitches isn’t the only thing Jason Castro can do at the plate.

Frame this one as a win!

Jason Castro helped power the Twins to their spring training win today with a two-run home run in the 2nd inning. It was part of a four-run 2nd inning for the Twins, which also included a nice little reminder that Byron Buxton is freaky fast.

The pitching was probably the more important aspect of this game. Trevor May, who is trying to get back into the starting rotation (presumably to get as far away from Eddie Guardado as possible), pitched 1.2 scoreless innings. He did load the bases in the first, but was able to get out of the jam by striking out Matt Skole, who really is named that.

Jose Berrios tossed 2 innings and gave up a run. Whatever. Craig Breslow and Stephen Gonsalves both tossed two scoreless innings too. It was cool.

Oh yeah—it was also Brian Dozier’s spring debut too. He went 1-for-3 with two strikeouts and a run scored.

Basically just your run-of-the-mill spring training game.

ROLL CALL!
