Triple-A: Rochester Red Wings 5, Buffalo Bisons 0

Quite the day for SP Aaron Slegers! Slegers threw six scoreless and hitless innings yesterday for the Red Wings, while also striking out seven players. At 81 pitches (in a Triple-A game), though, he was removed from the no-hit bid. RP Trevor Hildenberger came in and kept the no-hitter going until two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Meanwhile, the Red Wings batters got the job done with five runs, all scored in the sixth inning or later. 1B Kennys Vargas and 2B Tommy Field both homered, while SS (and later CF) Niko Goodrum went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and a run scored.

  • Injury: 1B ByungHo Park was placed on the 7-day DL with a strained right hamstring.

Double-A: Chattanooga Lookouts

Off day for the Fightin’ Mauers.

High-A: Tampa Yankees 2, Ft. Myers Miracle 1

Damn Yankees again! Though Miracle SP Lachlan Wells has a fine start—giving up two runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings—there was not enough offensive support to get this game won.

3B Chris Paul and 2B Alex Perez made their best effort, though. Both singled in the first inning to help score CF Casey Scoggins for the Miracle’s only run. Paul went on to go 4-for-4 with two doubles (though he made a throwing error in the field) on the night, while Perez went 3-for-4.

Perez is currently hitting .478, by the way.

Low-A: Cedar Rapids Kernels 6. Kane County Cougars 1

Holy home runs, DH Travis Blankenhorn! Blankenhorn hit a solo dong in the seventh inning of yesterday’s game, and for those keeping track at home, that’s his third dong in four days. Blankenhorn also hit a double, just to show he can run a little bit too. He’s currently hitting .409.

Not a bad day for LF Shane Carrier, either. He went 2-for-4 with a double.

SP Tyler Beardsley started the game for the Kernels, giving up the Cougars only run on six hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out two. RP Brady Anderson finished the game for the Kernels, throwing four perfect innings.
