Triple-A: Rochester Red Wings off
No game for the Red Wings yesterday.
[No Box Score]
Double-A: Biloxi Shuckers 5, Chattanooga Lookouts 0
Top prospect SS Nick Gordon went 2-for-3, but other than that, not a good day for the Lookouts. In fact, the rest of the team only got two more hits the rest of the game—singles by 3B Ryan Walker and C Ryan Walker.
The lack of hits can partially be explained by the fact the game was shortened to only six and a half innings due to rain, but still.
SP Kohl Stewart didn’t give up any earned runs in his four innings of work, but did give up three unearned runs thanks to errors by the aforementioned Gordon and 2B Engelb Vielma. RP Randy Rosario pitched two innings and didn’t do much better, giving up two runs (both earned).
High-A: Ft. Myers Miracle 2, Florida Fire Frogs 1
1B Trey Vavra hit a two-run dong in the seventh inning to power the Miracle to their first win over the new Florida Fire Frogs. The Fire Frogs got one run back with a solo-shot in the top of the ninth, but ultimately fell short.
SP Lachlan Wells was brilliant, pitching seven shutout innings and striking out eight.
Low-A: Cedar Rapids Kernels 8, Peoria Chiefs 2
Have a day, CF Aaron Whitefield! Whitefield was 4-for-5 yesterday with two home runs to hep power the Kernels past the Chiefs. 1B Lewin Diaz and RF Jaylin Davis also both homered in the game just for good measure.
SP Clark Beeker started for the Kernels and gave up two earned runs over 7.2 innings. He also struck-out eight nine batters.
