Indians 8, Twins 3: Santiago had a bad day

At least we won the series.

Earlier today I wrote a piece on Hector Santiago and how he hasn’t given up many home runs this year. Today he allowed 3 of them, doubling his season total. This is all my fault.

In the first, Jason Kipnis hit a solo shot to lead off the game for the Indians. In the 2nd, a single, a balk, a single, and a 2-run homer by Lonnie Chisenhall made the score 4-0. Carlos Santana lead off the 4th inning with a solo dong, and after a 2-out walk, Hector’s day was done.

The new guy Adam Wilk came in and gave up a single, and then Jason Kipnis hit another home run, making it 8-0 Indians.

Wilk did manage to pitch a few innings, without allowing the game to get even more out of hand.

The Twins didn’t do much on offense today. In the 6th a Joe Mauer single was backed up by doubles from Miguel Sano and Kennys Vargas to score a couple runs. In the 7th, Jorge Polanco hit a solo HR, pushing the Twins home run streak to 15 games.

Notes:

  • Byron Buxton made a really nice catch, which got even the home crowd on it’s feet in applause. Very cool to watch.
  • Happy Mother’s Day!
  • No squirrel today.

STUDS:

Byron Buxton: 1-3, awesome catch.
