Triple-A: Rochester Red Wings off
No game yesterday for the Red Wings.
[No Box Score]
Double-A: Chattanooga Lookouts 5, Jackson Generals 2
The Lookouts were able to score two runs in the top of the ninth to help this game look a lot less close than the final score might indicate. Those two insurance runs game thanks to a RBI double by RF Edgar Corcino and a RBI single by DH Dan Gamache.
Starting for the Lookouts yesterday was SP Felix Jorge, and he did alright. Although two of the seven hits he gave up were home runs, they were only solo-shots, and also the only runs he or any other Lookout surrendered in the game. RP Luke Bard came in after Jorge and pitched two perfect innings with three strikeouts, and RP Mason Melotakis pitched a perfect ninth inning to earn the save.
Oh, and Melotakis still has yet to give up a run this year in Double-A.
As for other offensive standouts, it was a pretty good game for former first round draft pick CF Levi Michael, who hasn’t quite been developing at the pace the Twins had hoped. The now 26 year old went 1-for-2 with a double and two walks.
High-A: Ft. Myers Miracle 4, Daytona Tortugas 1
Well, Miracle RF Max Murphy is staying hot, that’s for sure! After hitting two-home runs in Sunday’s game, Murphy went 3-for-4 in Monday’s game, hitting a double and a triple. He was the only Miracle batter with an extra-base hit in the game, in fact.
Also hot? Newcomer LF Shane Kennedy, who went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in his second High-A game of the year. CF Zack Granite, also in his second game coming back from injury, went 0-for-3 in the game—but at least walked.
Starting on the the mound for the Miracle was SP Dereck Rodriguez, son of Pudge. He had a pretty good outing, giving up only one run on five hits and one walk over seven innings. D-Rod also struck out six batters, and now has a 2.81 ERA on the year.
Low-A: Cedar Rapids Kernels off
No game for the Kernels yesterday.
