Fresh off the heels of losing last night's ballgame to the Tampa Bay Rays, the Twins are looking to even up the series behind rookie lefthander Adalberto Mejia. Called up from Triple-A last night with Adam Wilk getting designated for assignment, he will be making his fifth career start this afternoon. Though Mejia had struggled over his first three starts, his last one was far more encouraging as he allowed 3 runs over 7 innings against the Royals. His key to beating the Rays will be to improve his control as he's walked nearly 14% of batters faced in his career. To put that into context, that's about as often as Miguel Sano has walked in his career.

Facing Mejia on the mound will be righthander Jake Odorizzi. Acquired with Wil Myers (and others) in exchange for James Shields and Wade Davis, he has been a solid mid-rotation starter for the Rays over the past few years. Odorizzi will look to stymie Twins hitters with his splitter, though he can be beaten with the home run so Miguel Sano and Co. should look forward to hitting the ball hard today.
