Happy Memorial Day and welcome to the Twins vs Astros gamethread! I hope everyone is having a great weekend as we settle in for some early afternoon baseball.

The Twins face a tough challenge today against the Houston Astros who sport the best record in baseball. Not only that but as you probably already know the Twins played a really really really really long game yesterday which didn't end favorably either. Really. Luckily the Twins have pitching maestro Ervin Santana on the mound today which hopefully means very little bullpen use.

Strutting on the mound today for Houston is RHP Brad Peacock. Peacock for the time being has earned a spot in the Astros rotation over the struggling Mike Fiers . A starter earlier in his career, Peacock has found success the bullpen this year with a very excellent 0.87 ERA through 20.8 innings pitched.

The Twins made a couple of roster moves last night sending Justin Haley(shoulder) to the DL and optioning Kennys Vargas to AAA. In corresponding moves the Twins recalled RHP Drew Rucinski and also calling up rookie LHP Jason Wheeler who is making his MLB debut. So congrats to Wheeler on earning a spot after working his way up through the Twins organization.
