Tuesday Twins: Our players’ fingers are falling off

Howdy, Twinkie Town! Miss me? I’m taking some time out of my vacation (it’s been wonderful, thanks) to bring you these links:

  • Twins minor league prospect Daniel Palka—who told us in our exclusive Twinkie Town interview this spring that an Oreo is a sandwich—broke his finger and is out indefinitely for the Red Wings.
  • Byron Buxton was removed from yesterday’s game with a finger injury, but it was merely a flesh wound and he should be ready to play today.
  • Speaking of finger injuries, Mike Trout tore a ligament in his thumb and will miss the upcoming series between the Twins and Angels for sure. He might even need surgery and be out for over a month.
  • You know how the Twins sent Kennys Vargas back to the minors after Sunday’s long-ass game? They had some regret about doing it even at the time, and I bet after Monday’s game they really had some regrets, since he’d probably have been a better pitching option than the bullpen.
  • Yesterday was literally the worst day ever for the Twins bullpen, if you didn’t catch that. Like, worst ever in history. Officially.
  • But good news! Reliever Adam Wilk cleared waivers.
  • Think the bullpen is scary? Well the Twins dugout can be a scary place too, apparently.
