Wake up, San Francisco!

Today the Minnesota Twins attempt to win their third straight ballgame against a West Coast opponent. They'll task youngster Jose Berrios (4-1, 2.76 ERA, 8.5 K/9) with the job of setting down the San Francisco Giants -- but if we're being honest, any start is likely going to pale in comparison to what Big Erv put together last night.

Berrios' opponent will be 10-year veteran Jeff Samardzija (2-7, 4.29 ERA, 10.6 K/9), who is pitching much better than his ERA and league-leading seven losses suggest. His 2.91 FIP is 3rd-best in the National League, and his 2.0 WAR is fifth-best. The strikeout rate speaks for itself, and his 8.55 K/BB ratio leads the league. Long story short, don't let the record fool you -- "Jazzy" Jeff is still a tough opponent.
