The week of the 2017 MLB Draft is finally upon us, after weeks of player reports and other coverage. Here at TwinkieTown we have surveyed the full range of prospects rumored to be possible selections for the Twins with the first overall pick. We have looked at the Twins potential to make a deal with that first pick, and we have even looked at the depth of the draft and our own organizational depth.
With the draft starting tonight, we will now take a look at the most recent mock drafts by various media outlets who have been working the rumor mills in an attempt to figure out who the Twins will take first overall.
Baseball America - John Manuel (June 9th)
Twins 1st Overall: Kyle Wright, RHP, Vanderbilt
CBS Sports - Mike Axisa (June 9th)
Twins 1st Overall: Kyle Wright, RHP Vanderbilt
MLB.com - Jim Callis (June 9th)
Twins 1st Overall: Kyle Wright, RHP, Vanderbilt
I was looking through the normal field of mock drafts recently and saw a relative consensus from the media who believed the Twins were all in on Kyle Wright of Vanderbilt, which has been a pick in vogue for a few weeks now.
But then I saw something interesting...
I'm already revising my 1st-rd projection from last night! @MLBDraft https://t.co/EtuqlxjTan

Apparently rumors had began to spread Thursday and intensified early Friday that the Twins favored Louisville LHP/1B Brendan McKay first overall over Kyle Wright.
CBS Sports R.J. Anderson followed suit in reporting this development Saturday, and the news spread far enough that mock drafts published Saturday featured McKay first overall.
There has also been news on the Hunter Greene front, who came to Minnesota this weekend to workout for the front office brass and seemed to do well for himself...
Heard Hunter Greene was 101 mph from the mound and 96 mph from short during his workout on Friday.

So mock drafts have the Twins taking Wright, but now have the Twins taking McKay. Meanwhile, Hunter Greene put up a show during his workout while those mock drafts were being created and published.
Good luck trying to find a consensus now between all the varied media reports and rumors. Luckily, it won’t be long until the Twins’ first pick Monday evening.
