The Minnesota Twins have reinstated shortstop Jorge Polanco, per LEN3, after he spent the last few days on the bereavement list following the passing of his grandfather. In order to create a 25-man roster spot, they optioned RHP Chris Heston to Triple-A Rochester.

Polanco has appeared in 46 games for the Twins this season, and is hitting .270/.324/.400. Heston appeared in one game, yesterday, after being claimed off waivers, and held the Giants scoreless in the one inning he pitched. Apparently he still has options left. Weird.

The moves also mean Kennys Vargas, who was originally called up to take Polanco’s roster spot, is still available as a bench bat. Heston will likely slide into the spot formerly taken by Nik Turley in the Rochester rotation.
