Minnesota Twins select Landon Leach with 37th overall pick

After selecting Royce Lewis and Brent Rooker, the Twins add RHP Landon Leach with their second round pick.

MLB: Baltimore Orioles at Minnesota Twins Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports

After adding prep infielder Royce Lewis first overall and Mississippi State slugger Brent Rooker 35th overall, the Twins have added:

Landon Leach, RHP, Pickerhing HS (Ontario)

Leach is a bit of a surprise here, ranked 101 by MLB.com. But Leach has upside. He doesn’t turn 18 till July but he is already 6’4” 225 lbs with a fastball that touches 94-95mph. He has a curve and changeup that are considered average now but there is plenty of projection with his natural athleticism ( he plays basketball and volleyball) and frame.

Leach is committed to play college ball at Texas, which shows his potential upside coming all the way from Canada to play big-conference college baseball.

The Twins finally added a pitcher, although it was not one we expected to get at this point.
