The Mariners knocked starting pitcher Adalberto Meija and the Twins out early tonight by scoring 9 runs (8 earned) off the Twins’ Rookie by the 4th inning.

After giving up a pair of runs in the top frame the Twins answered back with two of their own in the bottom half of the 1st on 2 run double by Joe Mauer scoring Brian Dozier and Robbie Grossman.

From there on out it was all Mariners offense scoring 4 more in the 2nd and 3 in the 4th to end Meija’s night after just 3.2 IP.

The Twins plated one more run in the 6th on a line drive by Kennys Vargas scoring Max Kepler.

Craig Breslow surrendered a pair of homers in the 8th and Twins 2-way phenom Chris Gimenez would come in to pitch the 9th also giving up a couple more runs as the Twins lose the series opener 14- 3.

In other news the Twins selected a player 95% of us never really heard of before who is also not a pitcher 1st in the MLB Draft today. So congrats Royce Lewis and welcome to the organization.
