Twins recall Ryan Pressly, option Alex Wimmers

After two consecutive bullpen implosions, the Minnesota Twins needed to do something. They did... something, here I suppose.

Ryan Pressly has been recalled from Triple-A Rochester, where he pitched four scoreless innings over three appearances. Hopefully that means he has been successful at working on whatever he was asked to work on, since he has a 9.50 ERA over 18 innings pitched when the Twins sent him down on June 1st.

To make space on the roster, the Twins optioned Alex Wimmers. Wimmers was once a first round pick for the Twins, because that always guarantees success. He posted a 4.76 ERA over 5.3 innings since he was called up when Pressly was sent down.

I’m not entirely sure what this move was designed to do, but Wimmers did throw 1.1 innings yesterday, so the Twins are probably just going for a fresh arm at this point. Pressly last threw in Rochester on June 11th.

Matt Belisle and Craig Breslow both somehow remain employed by the Minnesota Twins at this time, so this hopefully is not the end of the bullpen moves in the near future.
