The Twins really turned tables this time and got off to a 2-run lead in the 1st when Eduardo Escobar (He’s so hot right now) hit a homer to deep left with Brian Dozier on third. Chris Gimenez hit a 3-run blast to left center field to make it 5-0 Twins. The Twins batted around in the 1st.
Leading off the 2nd, Dozier got hit by a Ariel Miranda pitch in the elbow. No bench-clearing melee ensued, but the ump warned both teams. The Twins loaded the bases with no outs and it looked like it was going to be another double-digit rout but they let the Mariners off the hook and failed to score any runs.
Top of the 3rd, Ben Gamel unleashed the power of his hair a bit to hit an RBI single to put the Mariners on the scoreboard. In the bottom half of the inning, Gimenez was having none of this nonsense of letting the M’s back in the game and hit a solo jack to left field.
Robinson Cano hit an RBI single in the 6th but that was it for the Mariners.
Jose Berrios had quite a day. He looked like he might have been running out of fuel in the 6th, and was at 90+ pitches, but Molly left him in and he sped through eight complete innings, striking out six in the process. He was fun to watch.
Twins split the series with the Mariners, whom we will hopefully not have to deal with anymore this year.
