Triple-A: Rochester Red Wings 4, Buffalo Bisons 3
Buffalo staked Rochester three runs in the first inning, and were never able to come back. LF Mitch Garver (not a typo!) hit a double, and not to be outdone, DH Byung-Ho Park hit two. Each of them was credited with a RBI. 1B Matt Hague and C John Ryan Murphy also hit runners in.
Aaron Slegars was effective, if not spectacular, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits in his 5.2 innings pitched. He was relieved by Jake Reed, who only gave up one hit in 1.1 innings, and Ryan Pressly pitched the final two innings to earn his third triple-A save of the year.
Double-A: Chattanooga Lookouts off
Several Lookouts were slated to play in the Southern League All-Star game, however Mother Nature had other plans, and the game had to be cancelled.
[No Box Score]
High-A: Jupiter Hammerheads 2, Ft. Myers Miracle 0
A pitcher’s duel, this game was scoreless until the 7th inning. One run in the seventh and one in the eighth were all Jupiter would need though, as they held the Miracle scoreless.
Miracle P Anthony McIver pitched 3.2 innings in his professional debut. He allowed only two hits while striking out four. P David Fisher took the loss, allowing both runs in the game. CF Tanner English hit a double, but was left on base. He was one of only two runners the Miracle got into scoring position.
Low-A: Cedar Rapids Kernels off
Like the Lookouts, the Kernals are also off for the all-star game. Unlike the Southern League, the Midwest League played theirs. Several Kernals participated, highlighted by 1B Lewin Diaz hitting a 2-run home run to help the West Division to a 5-2 victory. SS Jermaine Palacios singles, and P Seth Poppen recorded a strikeout in a perfect inning pitched.
