SP Yovani Gallardo actually has a Silver Slugger award! In 2010, with Milwaukee, he had an OPS of .837. That's better than Chris Gimenez. Gallardo has really struggled on the mound so far this season; that's worse than Chris Gimenez. Digits:
Gallardo throws a LOT of breaking pitches, about 40%. And he usually throws them for strikes. So that could be tough on the young Twins hitters. OTOH, he's walking quite a few guys, and his two-seamer is all over the place. If the Twins can lay off his moving fastballs and sit on breaking stuff in the zone, they'll do well.
Adalberto has been giving up walks, too, and dongs, despite a good strikeout rate. He's probably helped by being a lefty in Target Field; LF & CF, the pull fields for righties, are pretty deep. They are in Safeco, also (although fences were moved in for the 2013 season). Note that both pitchers have opposite-from-normal splits.
Hey, Chicago and New York have Sinatra songs about them; why not a Perry Como song about Seattle? This sounds like the most Burt Bacharach-y song Bacharach didn't write.
The Mariners make good TV commercials. Here's a silly, fun one:
No, I didn't forget the grasshoppers. Here they are.
