Adalberto Mejia had a solid night on the mound, giving up just one run on five hits through 5.1 innings. He was backed by some nice plays in the field and a late 2 run rally in the 8th as the Twins take the series opener 4 - 2.

The Twins got on the board first in the second inning on a Eddie Rosario double to center scoring “Little” Kennys Vargas all the way from first base . They also had a missed scoring opportunity in the third with the bases loaded with one out on a nice throw by Yankees rookie RF sensation Aaron Fudge nabbing Brian Dozier at the plate , though the Twins would immediately make that run up on an error by Yankees starter Bryan Mitchell scoring centerfielder Zack Granite.

Meija would give up his only run in the 5th on back to back doubles by Garret Cooper and Austin Romine to cut the lead to 2 - 1. Tyler Duffey on in relief also gave up back to back doubles in the 7th tying the game at 2-2.

In the 8th Eduardo Escobar came in with two runners on and hit a big pinch hit single to left scoring Joe Mauer. Eddie Rosario followed that up with his second RBI double of the night giving the Twins a 4 - lead.

Taylor Rogers and Brandon Kintzler locked down the 8th and 9th innings as the Twins get a nice win at home vs the Yankees.
