Since he’s over his “abdominal issues” now, the Twins activated shortstop infielder-guy Ehire Adrianza off the 10-day DL. Adrianza, who is known for his slick defensive skills, just played three rehab games in Triple-A, where he went 1-for-10 with a walk.Again, though, he’s not exactly known for offense—but he is hitting a slightly-better .259/.323/.333 at the big league level this year.

To make space on the roster, the Twins optioned Kennys Vargas back to Triple-A Rochester. Though Kennys is a big guy with some pop in his bat—he’s hit seven dingers in 44 games this year for the Twins—he’s been struggling lately. In the 17 games Vargas played in the month of June, Vargas hit only .200/.241/.327 with two dongs. Also, Kennys has options left, so...

Bottom line is the Twins bench is getting slighter, sleeker, and more defensive. Maybe it will help the pitching, and we may see Jorge Polanco get a little more time off to clear his head.
