Kyle Gibson is trending in the right direction. Through his first seven starts this year he had an 8.62 ERA, including three starts where he gave up five or more earned runs. In his last 8 starts he has a 3.91 ERA over 46 innings, and only one of those clunkers. Still not amazing, but more in line with what Kyle Gibson "should" be.
Ubaldo Jimenez's season has been arguably even more inconsistent. After his 5th start he had an ERA of 7.43, so he was moved to the bullpen to skip a start. He came back and had 3 bad starts before they sent him to the bullpen AGAIN, this time for about a month. A few weeks ago he was placed back into the rotation with really mixed results. This is a cursory look at his last 4 starts:
7 IP, 2 ER
2.1 IP, 9 ER
8 IP, 0 ER
5 IP, 5 ER
Hopefully, that pattern doesn't hold today.
