With the series tied at a game each, the Minnesota Twins will try to gain the upper hand on the Toronto Blue Jays, as a win this evening would leave the door open for a series victory.
Tonight will mark the return of starter Adalberto Mejia, who's been on the 10-day disabled list with a bicep strain for just over a month. When he left the active roster, he was in the middle of a stretch of very short outings, having not pitched six full innings since early July.
However, these short starts were rarely due to shoddy work, and almost always due to exceedingly high pitch counts. That's been the story for most of the year -- a Mejia that can limit his pitches would be a very valuable player indeed, but he's averaged nearly 20 pitches a frame this season. We'll see how long his leash is fresh off an injury.
On the flip side, it's Mr. Marco Estrada, who we last saw in a 10-9 loss over Players' Weekend. Since then, Estrada has allowed 8 runs in 17 innings across two starts against Baltimore and one against Boston. He's been a very average pitcher with good strikeout power, but after receiving Cy Young votes in 2015 and making the All-Star Game last season, it's been an underwhelming year for the 33-year-old righty.
GO TWINS GO!!!
