The 2017 MLB Postseason begins in ten days, and the Minnesota Twins have a magic number of six with eight games left to play. Today, they'll go for an early series win against the Detroit Tigers -- and if the scores break right around the league, Minnesota could see their magic number fall to four before the night ends.

First, they'll have to win their own ballgame, and Ervin Santana is the man for the job. Big Erv hasn't pitched seven complete innings since August 23rd, but he's given up just two runs in his last two outings and hasn't had a "bad" start since July 21st, also against Detroit. Santana will cross the 200-inning threshold if he records two outs tonight. Safe bet.

Tigers starting pitcher Matthew Boyd has a 5.33 ERA on the year, but fell one out short of no-hitting the White Sox his last time out. It's been a dominant September for Boyd, whose 2.16 ERA and .204 opponents' batting average on the month are numbers to be proud of (especially when two of his four September starts were against the Indians.)
