Twins coasted through a shut out loss as Carlos Carrasco struck out 14 batters.

That’s pretty much all the recap you need as the Twins were playing with hangovers a “rest day” lineup. Ervin Santana looked good through five innings, but was pulled as Molly didn’t want to burn his Ervins before the wild card bridge is crossed. Twins threatened to score several times but never did. then finally broke through with two outs in the top of the 9th. Mitch Garver hit a triple into the right field corner to bring two Twins runs in, but alas, the rally fell short.

Indians scored all five of their runs on three home runs off of Twins bullpen rookies in the 6th, 7th and 8th innings.

W: Carrasco (18-6) 8.1 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 14 K

L: Hildenberger (3-3)

Santana (ND) 5.0 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K

STUDS:

Santana - only 1 K, but 5 shut out innings.

Garver - 3b, 2 RBI

Defense

duds:

Hildenberger, Busenitz, Turley - HRs don’t help your FIP, guys

Goodrum - 0 for 4, 3 K, 3 LOBsters, had a nice AB at the end but it ended in a flyout - baseball is cruel that way.
