There were about 12 people in attendance at Tropicana Field today, and it made complete sense, seeing as most of this game was less interesting to me than the one wall in my apartment that is a slightly different white than the rest of them. And the whole hurricane thing.
Lucas Duda did some things at various times. A couple of runs were scored. Read some other recap if you really care about those specifics. The big story was Jake Odorizzi not letting the Twins do that whole “baserunner” thing. Finally in the 5th, Eddie Rosario broke the perfect game by walking casually to first. The no-hitter wouldn’t be broken until the 7th. 3 guesses who did that? Did you guess anyone not named Joe Mauer? Then you should be ashamed.
Taylor Rogers relieved Bartolo Colon in the 7th and held the Rays scoreless, and in turn passed the ball to Alan Busenitz who did the same in the 8th.
The Nin-PROFFESIONAL HITTER- Sorry I got ahead of myself. In the 9th, the shutout was finally broken by Robbie “Professional Hitter” Grossman, when our fresh faced young hero having returned to active duty lead off the inning with a solo dinger. Much appreciated, Robbie G!
Twins still lost, of course, leaving runners on the corners when Eddie Rosario stung a ball right into the shift for a game ending double play. Regular loss though! Not a perfect game or no-hitter. Not even a shut-out!
I’m just kidding, the almost comeback made it heartbreaking. I’m a shell of my former self, somebody please hold me. The Twins will possibly lose their hold on the 2nd Wild-Card spot to the Angels, but that game is still an hour away as of this writing. You’ll have to find that shit out yourself!
STUDS: Joe “Yes Hitter” Mauer, Robbie “Open Door Policy” Grossman
DUDS: Really just every other hitter, to be honest.
Robot Rollcall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

I give today’s Comment of the Gamethread to James Fillmore, even though he wasn’t ever there. Congratulations James!
