It feels like the Twins were on ESPN like, less than a week ago. That game went pretty ok. Maybe this will too? Their announcers were on "team bunt" pretty seriously for that game. I really hope they say that Aaron Judge or Giancarlo Stanton should bunt sometime tonight. That would be hilarious. The announcers were also on "team rum." Somehow that seems less likely to happen in New York. Bright lights, big city, etc. Meanwhile, do any of you think Alex Rodriguez will lend this game an air of impartiality? No? You're probably right.
Brian Dozier is coming in with a team-record 16 game hitting streak to start the year. Can he extend it to 17? Joe Mauer has 17 hits and 16 walks on the year. He's hit 12 singles and five doubles. It seems unlikely that a first baseman would have a higher OBP than SLG, but that's our Joe! Depending on how tonight goes, he could leave the game with more walks than hits to his name on the 2018 season, and that would be kind of crazy.
Jake Odorizzi starts this one on the mound for the Twins. He's looking for a better result than his last start. He gave up three dongs in that one, and now he gets to face Judge and Stanton, in the Bronx. This does not give me good feelings.
The Yankees are answering with Masahiro Tanaka. Reliable sources tell me he is not the center fielder from the movie "Major League." This Tanaka is an actual, real life baseball player. He's also been plagued by the long-ball a little bit this season, so lets hope the Twins brought their bats.
What's the opposite of a pitcher's duel? That's what I'm predicting for today.
Your order of bat-swinging is below:
Go Twins Go!!!
