Today the Twins will lose their ninth consecutive ballgame to the worst team in the National League.

Today's winning pitcher will be Sal Romano, who sounds like he would be sooner found antagonizing Mookie in Bedford-Stuyvesant than throwing baseballs in Cincinnati. The 24-year-old righty will be making just his 22nd major-league start today, with 16 of those coming in his rookie season last year. Romano hasn't quite found command of the strike zone yet (5.5 K/9, 4.1 BB/9), but will somehow get by this afternoon to topple the Twins.

Taking the loss for Minnesota today will be Jake Odorizzi, who fell victim to the Bronx Bombers in his previous outing, giving up five earned runs and failing to finish the fifth. By all accounts, the Reds should possess an easier lineup to get through, but baseball is a cruel beast, and Cincinnati will probably run up double-digits in the runs column again.

The Twins will play sans Miguel Sano and Jason Castro today, with Ehire Adrianza and Mitch Garver effectively replacing them, while Eduardo Escobar slides over to the hot corner. Joe Mauer will be the designated hitter today, while Logan Morrison hunkers down at first base. None of this will matter, as the Cincinnati Reds will let the Twins score ten, maybe twelve runs in the first few innings, before unleashing their attack and winning the game by a margin of ten runs or more. It's like Beat the Freeze, but during the game instead of between innings.
