The Twins doubled down on the Pirates in unusually snowy weather with a 7-3 win after falling behind early.

The Pirates got to Twins starter Jake Odorizzi early with a leadoff double by John Harrison and a home run off the batters eye in center by Josh Bell to give the Pirates a quick 2-0 lead in the first.

Brian Dozier stayed hot hitting his 4th home run of the season in the third to get the Twins on the board 2-1.

Miguel Sano narrowly missed a home run in the fourth and settled for a double, but was driven in by an Eduardo Escobar sac fly to tie the game 2-2.

Pitsburgh answered back in bottom half with a Colin Moran single scoring Corey Dickerson, giving the Pirates a 3-2 lead.

Jake Odorizzi was pulled in the fifth after issuing two walks. He gave up 5 hits, 3 runs, and 3 walks on the day which isn’t bad considering the cold weather conditions. Taylor Rogers came on in relief getting a key strikeout and a nice play by Eddie Rosario throwing out the runner at the plate to get the third out and end the scoring threat.

The Twins had a big sixth inning, started off with a walk by Brain Dozier. Dozier advanced to second on a pass ball and then to third on an odd play in which Eddie Rosario didn’t run out a popup that the Pirates lost in the snow and landed in fair territory. Dozier was driven in by Sano to tie the game at 3. The bats didn’t stop there as the Twins got doubles by Logan Morrison , Eduardo Escobar, and Byron Buxton, each driving in a run and making it a 6-3 ballgame.

In the 7th, Rosario reached on a walk then appeared to be picked off by Dovydas Neverauskas during the next at bat yet was called safe. The Pirates wanted the play reviewed and surprisingly the safe call was upheld. Which was good because Sano followed this up with his 3rd hit of the game scoring Rosario from first. 7-3 Twins

From there the Twins bullpen cruised (for the most part) with contributions by Trevor Hildenberger, Addison Reed, and Fernando Rodney to secure the victory and a split series.
