Jason Castro is getting knee surgery

Remember that “minor” knee injury Twins catcher Jason Castro had? About that...

The Twins placed catcher Jason Castro on the disabled list about a week ago because he tore his “meniscus”, which is apparently something in your knee. At the time, the Twins tried to emphasize that the injury was not considered major. However, I think this was another case of “bilateral leg weakness” or whatever because it turns out Jason Castro actually is going to get surgery on his knee tomorrow and will be out for four to six weeks. Sounds kind of major to me.

Seriously, though. What is with catchers and their knees? A.J. Pierzynski never seemed to have this problem. What gives?

I feel extra bad about this one especially because I called my Mom yesterday for Mother’s Day and she told me she torn her meniscus once and couldn’t walk for like six months. I kept telling her she was crazy and all the reporters said this was just a minor injury, but guess what? Listen to your mothers.

According to the Star Tribune, this knee thing is actually a problem that has been flaring up for Castro for years. The hope is that the surgery will take care of it once and for all.

Any who, I hope you’re all hyped about having more Bobby Wilson in your life.
