With St. Louis coming to town, the Twins are looking to shake off their offensive funk.

In their last two games, the Minnesota Twins have scored exactly one run. With the St. Louis Cardinals in town, the Twins will look to wake up their bats in this match up of second place teams.

Last week in St. Louis, the Twins took both games, and put quite a few runs on the board in the process. Fernando Romero took the win in the first game 6-0; and Jake Odorizzi took the second win by a score of 7-1. We have a different slate of pitchers for this series, but hopefully can see the same kind of results.

Jose Berrios will start the first game for the Twins. After a great start to the season, he has struggled a bit lately. In his last start he gave up five runs to the Angels, including two home runs. Berrios hasn’t pitched to any of the Cardinals’ batters to this point in his career.

Berrios faces rookie pitcher Jack Flaherty. He has been a top prospect for a long time, and has finally graduated to the big leagues. In six appearances this year, he has pitched to a 3.60 ERA, and struck out 20 batters. He’s never faced any of the Twins’ batters.

Lance Lynn will start the second game for the Twins, facing his old teammates. In his last outing he gave up four runs in 4.2 innings to the Angels, but the Twins won the game 5-4. Lets look for a solid performance from Lynn tonight. Here are his stats against the Cardinals:

Opposing Lynn will be Miles Mikolas, who has performed very well for the Cardinals since coming back from three seasons in Japan. Mikolas has a 2.51 ERA, and has pitched into the seventh inning more often than not this season. He also has a glorious 80’s style moustache in his stock photo.
