Game 39: Cardinals at Twins

Lance Lynn faces his old team. That could be a good thing or a bad thing. Let's find out!

Lance Lynn (1-3, 7.34 ERA)will make his first start against his former team. He turned down a $17.4 million qualifying offer by the Cardinals, and as we all know, he would later sign a one year deal with the Twins for $12 million. Lynn recently made some remarks about "loyalty" in baseball, presumably directed at the Cardinals.

The Twins will face Miles Mikolas (RHP 5-0 , 2.41 ERA), who is effectively Lynn's replacement in the Cardinals rotation. Mikolas spent 2012-2014 up and down between the majors and minors for the Padres and the Rangers. He then signed with Japan's Yomiuri Giants and pitched remarkably well there for three seasons. This offseason he signed a two year deal with the Cardinals and has continued his success thus far back in the MLB. In his last outing he gave up one run on five hits in 6 2.3 innings vs the Padres. Miles and his wife Lauren recently announced they are expecting twins later this year.

Neither team has a significant amount of at-bats against the opposing pitcher.
