Last night was fun, wasn't it? It's always great when the Twins bats come alive, and a pitcher does well on the same night.
Today is Jake Odorizzi's turn to pitch. Odorizzi was actually born in the St. Louis metro, albeit on the Illinois side of the river. That deep in southern Illinois is a pretty depressing place for the most part.
Odorizzi has pitched pretty well against the Cards in a very small sample. Marcell Ozuna is 4-of-10. Nobody else has hit him much, he's given up eight total hits. Three of those were home runs though, to Matt Carpenter, Ozuna, and Kolten Wong. Odorizzi is going to have to be on his game today, because offense may be hard to come by.
Carlos Martinez will start this game for the Cardinals, and look to make things difficult for the Twins. His ERA this season is 1.40, and he has a 45 to 19 K/BB ratio. Eddie Rosario is 1-of-3 against Martinez. Brian Dozier is 0-of-2 with a walk. None of the other Twin batters today have faced the tough right handed pitcher. Available as a possible pinch hitter, Joe Mauer has a double and strikeout, and is also 1-of-3.
