Know Thine Enemy: Halos Heaven

There isn't much that is more American than a Sunday afternoon baseball game. Apple Pie, perhaps... but you have pumpkin pie, and pecan pie, and cobbler, and crumble and now I want some dessert...

Anyway, its a Sunday Matinee for the Twins and Angels today. The Twins have dropped two in a row to the Halos, so lets see if they can't get one back. Fernando Romero is on the mound today for the Twins, and faces Nick Tropeano.

While Romero wasn't quite as lights-out as his earliest starts, he bounced back well in his last appearance. He pitched through six innings, and only surrendered two runs. Since he isn't Kyle Gibson, he got some run support, and actually earned the W, dropping his ERA to 3.96 in the process.

The Angels will be the first MLB team that Romero has ever faced twice. Will they have some insights into him, or will he continue to baffle their hitters? Last time he faced them, he pitched five innings and only surrendered one run. That game was a 2-1 loss, because Twins fans cannot have nice things this season.

Nick Tropeano has also faced the Twins once already this season. He gave up three runs in six innings. Minnesota would go on to win that game five to three. More recently, Kansas City got to Tropeano early in his last start, chasing him from the game before he could complete five innings, and scoring five runs against him. I have to think our line up is just as capable as the Royals, but I'm not sure I would bet on it any more. Tropeano now has a 4.35 ERA this season.

If you're interested in such things, Today is "Faith Day" at Target Field. Does anyone else notice the irony of it being against the Angels? Anyway, maybe this will please the divine of your choice, and blessings shall be bestowed upon the team. Is that how it works?
