White Sox 5, Twins 2: Sox give Twins cold feet

Twins can’t score enough against Santiago and Sox

MLB: Chicago White Sox at Minnesota Twins
Yolmer Sanchez slides into home plate and scores on a wild pitch by relief pitcher Ryan Pressly
Jordan Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

The Twins normally have a party at home plate when they face former teammate Hector Santiago. Today though there would be no such party. They did manage to get on the board first and run Santiago’s pitch count up quickly, but some running gaffes and missed opportunities limited the damage today against Mr. Hector. Ehire Adrianza had a nice day at the plate though with two doubles, both of which lead to the Twins scoring a run.

Twins starter Jake Odorizzi pitched well through five innings, surrendering a run in the 4th. The Sox lead off the 6th with back to back singles though and Ryan Pressly was called in to relieve Odorizzi. A single, a wild pitch, and a sacrifice bunt later and the White Sox had a 5 - 2 lead.

From there both bullpens kept their opponents off the board with no late-inning heroics to save the day unfortunately for the Twins.

This gif is not from tonight’s Twins game, but basically sums up much of what happened.
