Logan Morrison placed on DL with hip injury

Hopefully the Twins have pinpointed the cause of LoMo’s struggles.

The Twins were expected to activate infielder Ehire Adrianza from the DL Thursday, and many were wondering how the Twins would make space for him on the roster. Well, now we have the answer: Logan Morrison is going on the 10-day DL with a left hip impingement. It seems sort of odd to me, seeing as LoMo hit a towering home run into the second deck just yesterday.

It’s never good news when a player is injured, but this isn’t exactly bad news for the Twins either. Morrison has only hit .195/.250/.403 with four home runs over the past month, and it hitting only .193/.287/.367 with 11 home runs on the year. For a player who hit 38 home runs last year, his performance has been a little disappointing, to say the least. I had not heard anything about this hip thing before now, but hopefully getting it better will improve LoMo’s performance on the field. A lot of the DL time will also be burnt up over the All-Star break, which makes it not too big of a deal.

Meanwhile, we get Ehire Adrianza back! The slick fielder has been out for a bit with a hamstring strain. Adrianza has hit .261/.314/.410 with hour home runs through 64 games this year, plus he can actually field really well at multiple positions. Seems like a fair replacement to me.
