Brewers 3, Twins 2: Offense forgets to light the fuse

Berrios gives up 3 solo home runs in otherwise nice outing.

After being shut out yesterday, the Twins offense continued it’s hibernation today against Chase Anderson. The Brewers got on the board early with a solo homer by Travis Shaw in the 2nd. The Twins meanwhile were 3 up and 3 down for the first 3 innings.

Joe Mauer was the first Minnesota batter to get on base with a double in the 4th. It wasn’t until the 7th that the Twins got on the board with a double by Brain Dozier and an RBI single by Jorge Polonco to bring him in.

Jose Berrios was having a good outing until giving up a pair of solo home runs in the bottom of the 7th by Brad Miller and Nate Orf. For the day Berrios only gave up five hits in 7 IP while walking two and striking out three. But those three hits for home runs would prove to be the difference in the game.

In the 9th, Keon Broxton robbed Brian Dozier of a for sure home run on a very nice leaping grab over the wall in centerfield, which possibly won the game for the Brewers.

Eduardo Escobar did provide some fireworks in the 9th, with a solo HR (13) to right field in the next at-bat to make it a 3-2 game. The Twins managed to get the tying on on base, but were not able to get the run in .

Good thing we can all light off some firecrackers today to ease the frustration.

W: Jeffress (6-1)

L: Berrios (8-7)

S: Knebel (10)
