The Twins got a run back in the 3rd on catcher Willians Astudillo’s first career home run making it a 2-1 game.
Minnesota added another run in the 5th when a Joe Mauer double was followed up by an Eddie Rosario RBI double to make it 2-2. This was also was another milestone for Joe, as it was the 1,000th run scored of his career.
Stewart had kept the Indians off the board since the 1st, but a couple two-out hits in the 5th put the Indians back on top, ending his day with another outing of 3 earned runs and just shy of 5 innings once again. Trevor May on in relief was able to end the threat, and also pitched a scoreless 6th.
Cody Allen, who has been the reliable Indians closer the last four years, was brought in to pitch in the 7th in an apparent demotion after struggling most of the year. The Twins capitalized on his struggles, loading the bases and bringing 2 runs in on a 2 out RBI single from Robbie Grossman, taking the lead 4-3.
From there Taylor Rogers had two effective relief innings, facing six batters and recording six outs. Trevor Hildenberger closed things out nicely, including getting the pesky Francisco Lindor to ground out, getting his fifth save of the year.
The two teams close out the series and the last Twins/Indians matchup for the year tomorrow at noon in an untelevised game. [Edit: The game will be broadcast for free on Facebook Live]
