- Brandon Warne asked a bunch of Twins pitchers about what foul balls mean to them. The consensus answer is “I don’t know.” Some of the pitchers had really thoughtful answers, but the highlight is Chris Gimenez (who Warne hilariously refers to as a “catcher/reliever”) saying that they are a “pain in the ass.” I bet he feels the same way about top buttons on his jerseys. This is a two-parter, so click both links for maximum effect.
- More news involving the Twins and Yankees? In case you didn’t get enough on Tuesday, Mike Berardino looked at Twins’ Bench Coach Derek Shelton’s history in the Yankees system, and a couple of all-time great players Shelton played alongside as a minor league catcher.
- Fangraphs looked at old friend Ryan Pressly, now with Houston. The Astros have a reputation for adding spin rate to pitchers, and improving them in the process. It seems that Pressly has been a beneficiary of this phenomenon, and is pitching very well in his new home. Twins pitching coach Garvin Alston also gets some deserved credit for Pressly’s improved performance.
- Last week we told you that E-town won their championship, and another Twin’s affiliate has now joined that club. Fort Myers just won the Florida State League for the first time since 2014, thanks to some high-profile Twins prospects like Royce Lewis and Jose Miranda. I still won’t apologize for my Doug Mientkiewicz takes during the offseason though.
