Astros 4, Twins 1: Four is more than one. Happy Labor Day!

Twins outhit Astros but fall short in the runs department (there is a Jose Altuve joke somewhere there )

The Astros hopped to an early 1-0 lead from an Alex Bregman homer in the 1st. A Tyler White single, and a fielding error by Jorge Polanco would end up costing the Twins a couple unearned runs in the 2nd. Yulieski Gurriel hit a solo shot giving the Astros a further edge of 4-0 in the 4th.

Houston starter Dallas Keuchel meanwhile cruised most of the day. He struck out 6 while allowing 5 hits, with the only run coming unearned in the 6th after a Carlos Correa error led to a Miguel Sano RBI single.

The Twins actually outhit the Astros on the day with 8 hits to Houston’s 4 , but they left too many runners high and dry with a team combined 11 runners left on base and were 2-12 with RISP. Kyle Gibson didn’t have a bad day despite the two home runs, only allowing 4 hits with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts in 7 innings, but those 2 unearned runs definitely hurt.

I was unable to watch the game today and am just filling in last minute, so if I missed something or if you would like to add anything or want to sue me please do so in the comments below.

Hope you all had a great holiday weekend!
