The Twins have set aside five dates during the 2019 to honor one of their all-time great players, Joe Mauer.
The fact that Mauer’s jersey would be retired during a pre-game ceremony had already been announced, but we now know when. The retirement will take place prior to the June 15th game against Kansas City. This is a Saturday evening game, and should be well-attended, so if you want to see history happen, plan ahead. The first 20,000 fans through the gate will receive a commemorative #7 baseball cap, if you’re into such things
The Twins have also set four dates for Joe Mauer Bobblehead giveaways, with the ability to collect five total bobbleheads. If you buy the “Mauer Bobblehead four pack” you get the fifth bonus bobblehead. Those packs will go on sale on January Seventeenth, at 10 in the morning central time.
The four dates to collect the bobble heads are Friday, May 24th; Friday, July 19th; Monday, August 24th; and Saturday, September 7th. The three weekday games all have 7:10 start times, while the Saturday game is at 6:10, so you should be able to make these after work if you wanted to. The four teams for those games, in order are the White Sox, As, Tigers, and Cleveland. I think its very appropriate that the Twins chose some of their biggest rivals to be the opposing teams on the nights they honor Mauer.
If you are a big fan of Mauer or bobbleheads, mark these dates on your calendar.
