Twins sign reliever Tyler Clippard

The Twins add a key piece to their bullpen

MLB: Cleveland Indians at Tampa Bay Rays Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Twins have announced the signing of RHP Tyler Clippard to a 1-year, 2.75 million dollar deal. He will be a key piece in the Twins 2020 bullpen.

Clippard, a journeyman reliever who last played for the Cleveland Indians, is on his way to Minnesota. Before the Twins signed him, Clippard played for the Yankees, the Nationals, the A’s, the Mets, the Diamondbacks, the White Sox, the Astros, the Blue Jays, and the Spiders, which is a total of 9 teams. Minnesota will be his tenth team.

Clippard, who will be joining an already-solid bullpen, played in 53 games for the Indians last season. He was 1-0 with a 2.90 ERA in 62 innings pitched. In multiple appearances, he pitched 2 innings in 6 different appearances. His WHIP was 0.855.

He will be entering his age-35 season in 2019. In my opinion, this is a great move.

Welcome to Minnesota, Tyler!
