Day two for our new, daily feature here at Twinkie Town. Treat this as a combination link-dump and open thread. Feel free to derail the comments to talk about whatever (within reason and the community guidelines.) The links and question provided are just conversation starters
Good morning Twinkie Town!
In case you missed it yesterday:
- There is no I in ‘team,’ but there is in ‘champions’ and Ethmaestro believes the Twins can be just that — the AL Central Champs.
- The 30th and final round of our community prospect vote went live. Huge shout-out to DJL44 for putting this together again this offseason.
- We want you to tell us how you would define a successful season for the Twins. Would it take a World Series win, just making the playoffs, or something else?
Elsewhere in Twins Territory
- The Minneapolis/St Paul Business Journal provided a photo gallery of the new food options at Target Field. The “Boomstick,” which is named after Nelson Cruz, has me reaching for the Tums, just based off the picture.
- Ballpark Digest previewed the changes to 2019 at Target Field
- Adam Rosales re-signed a minor league deal with the Twins, after exercising his opt-out last week. I guess he didn’t find another offer he liked. He’ll be nice depth at Rochester, the way he hit this spring.
And out there in the baseball world:
- Rick Ankiel is attempting yet another comeback. Ankiel debut as a pitcher in 2000, resurfaced as an outfielder in 2007, and now is attempting another comeback as a pitcher. He underwent a reconstructive surgery on his UCL (a new alternative to Tommy John) and is now trying to make the majors as a reliever.
- Ichiro may be retired, but he is still relevant. The Japanese outfielder has an 18 year old Shiba Inu named Ikkyu, and just look at the pupper

- Remember when that eagle landed on James Paxton before the Mariners-Twins game at Target Field last year? The Yankees sat the two old foes down for a heart-to-heart, and apparently it went really well.
Eagle vs @James_Paxton, the reunion.

- After opting out of his deal with the Twins, Lucas Duda landed on his feet and made the team in Kansas City. Royals Review is “big mad” about it though.
Today’s discussion question
If you could be any animal, which one, and why?
