I’ve probably said it about 20 times the past couple days, but it’s true: Opening Day in Major League Baseball is the best day of the year - AND IT’S TOMORROW! If you are just waking up to the alarm you set at the beginning of the off-season and need some quick details on how to follow the game, what the weather will be like at Target Field, or any festivities going on, read on!

Who, what, when, and where?

This Opening Day, your Minnesota Twins will be facing their main nemesis this year in the AL Central: the Cleveland Indians. First pitch is set for 3:10p Central Time at the beautiful Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Twins have chosen José Berríos to take the mound while Cleveland will counter with Corey Kluber.

Where can I watch or listen to the game?

You have the trifecta of broadcasts to choose from for this season’s first game!

FOX Sports North will be airing the game with the everlasting duo of Dick Bremer with the play-by-play and Bert “Downward Plane” Blyleven with the color analysis. If you’re out-of-market, and have the MLB.com subscription, hit up www.minnesotatwins.com. In market streaming can be found at Fubo.tv (seven day free trial.)

If you enjoy the sweet, sweet sounds of the game through the voices of Cory Provus and Dan “Dazzle Man” Gladden (this is the sandwichman-approved method of listening to the game), turn your dial to 830 AM if you’re in or around the Twin Cities as WCCO will be carrying the game. If you’re too far away from the Cities, the Treasure Island Baseball Network has you covered from “outstate” Minnesota to the Dakotas, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Check out the TIBN affiliate list here.

¿Prefieres el juego en español? Alfonso Fernandez and Tony Oliva are in their 14th season together and will have you covered at twinsbeisbol.com. (The rest of the Twins Spanish broadcast schedule can be found here.) Additionally, you can watch the game on FOX Sports North with the Spanish broadcast audio using SAP.

(Please do not suggest any illegal streaming in the comments section.)

Is it going to snow?

Why would it snow? It’s never snowed during a game before, nor has snow postponed a majority of a series before. The Weather Channel says it will be cloudy and reach 51 degrees tomorrow with a 10% chance of precipitation. Winds will be from the north-northwest (coming in from right field) at about 10 miles per hour with the temperature at 49 degrees at first pitch (and a wind chill of 44 degrees). It’s probably wise to bundle up.

Are there any fun things going on before and leading up to the game?

According to the Twins official website: Heck yes! There will be Breakfast on the Plaza from 6a to 9a on 7th Street outside Target Field. This includes food, the chance to take photos, ability to enter to win tickets and receive gift cards, and listening ot the live broadcast of the WCCO Morning News with Dave Lee

The gates to Target Field will open at 1p and the first 30,000 fans will get at Twins Puffer Vest. Oh, and some people will be greeting you at the gate, like Rod Carew, Tony O, Kent Hrbek, Harmon Killebrew’s grandson, Tom Kelly, Kirby Puckett Jr, and Catherine Puckett.

The National Anthem will be performed by local artist Har Mar Superstar (I personally have not heard of them, but they must be good) and the first pitch will be thrown out by our one and only Justin Morneau! A flyover will happen featuring two F-16s from the Minnesota Air National Guard’s 148th Fighter Wing out of Duluth.

Additional pregame ceremonies will include teams introductions, the American flag being presented by Twins Season Ticket Holders, and a World War II veteran and centenarian raising the American flag.

Also, the Twins will win.

We’ll have so much Opening Day coverage for you here at Twinkie Town throughout tomorrow! GO TWINS GO!
