Know Thine Mortal Foe: Let’s Go Tribe
It is that magical day that we’ve all been waiting for! People have been keeping themselves in shape all winter and practicing all spring just to perform at peak capacity on this most auspicious of days. Yes, today is opening day - of the seven day count down to my birthday. Oh also I guess some baseball thing is happening? Might as well check that out.
The Starters:
José Berríos is about to become the youngest Twins opening day starter since a 24 year old Brad Radke pitched in 1997. Fun tid-bit there. Berríos had a very solid 2018, but looks to prove this year that he can be a true ace and not just a pretty good one. His first start last year? Why that was a shutout. Here's hoping for another one of those!
Opposing him is righty Corey Kluber, a pitcher whose praises I don't really feel I need to sing. Kluber has Cy-Young tier stuff and scoring on him will be a tall order for the Twins offense.
It wouldn't be a big stretch to imagine a pitcher's duel may commence, but the magical thing about baseball is that no one ever knows whats going on and anything can happen!
The Opponent:
Our own Jonathan Gamble previewed the team from the land of Cleve, so if you aren't up on what their roster looks like, you certainly have the opportunity to be now!
Some Useful Notes:
- Both teams have a record of 0-0. Wow! Crazy!
- Cleveland star and Twin mass murderer Francico Lindor is on the Injured List to start the season and will miss the series.
- Marwin Gonzalez has a career .444 batting average against Kluber and 2 dingers. Both are the best on the team.
- Willians Astudillo is not starting :(
But Who is Starting?
Have Fun!
